Safe for children. Owned by communities.
Agrani works with official systems and communities, keeps children safe, and asks for three specific things.
Official warnings only
Only official warnings are relayed, using templates verified in advance by two native speakers.
Consent, and co-ownership
Children’s and elders’ recordings are made only with parental and community consent. The community co-owns its knowledge.
Children stay safe
Climate Messengers share information at home and are never asked to take risks during disasters.
Bangla and English, kept
Agrani supports Bangla and English. It never replaces them.
The hard questions, answered plainly.
Isn’t this an education project, not climate action?
Climate education is SDG 13.3. Our children also take direct action through Climate Club projects and prepare their families for climate hazards. Education is how we deliver climate resilience.
What if a translated warning is wrong?
We never create warnings. We relay official ones using templates verified in advance by two native speakers, so speed and accuracy don’t depend on live translation.
Doesn’t a project already translate warnings into indigenous languages?
Yes, and we’d partner with efforts like that. Agrani adds what they don’t cover: climate education in schools, child messengers who reach every household, and elders’ knowledge flowing back into lessons.
Why use AI at all?
AI speeds up drafting and transcription, but people verify everything. Agrani still works without internet, because delivery is offline and by voice call.
Isn’t it unfair to put responsibility on children?
Messengers only share information at home, with adult supervision. They are never asked to take risks during a disaster.
How will this scale beyond Bangladesh?
The toolkit is language-independent. A new community needs local volunteers to record and verify lessons, not new software.
How will you sustain it?
We’ll embed lessons in schools through the Directorate of Primary Education and hill district councils, partner with NGOs already working on climate education and disaster risk, and keep the toolkit open and free.
No parallel system. Only the people already here.
Agrani builds on schools, official warning services and community knowledge.
